MY OLD RUGGED SHOES

If this has not affected the author, then it has affected the reader and if it has not affected both, then one of them is lying 🤥

Well, My first analogy on this blog is about a typical life situation where shoes get torn or rather worn out, especially during the rainy season. It all begins when You feel the toes wet with mud and the immediate reaction is a kind of a frustration that the shoes you trusted could let you down. More often than not you do not have an emergency kitty for shoes every now and then so the frustration is not only immense but also painful. The situation graduates from bad to worse when you have to wear a pair of shoes that you do not like simply because your favourite is worn out.

The situation comes to a beautiful change when you finally buy a new pair of shoes and are warm again. You can walk confidently among peers and on the streets. You feel confident and happy.

This is what happens in the life of a christian. We often go astray and are away from the grace of God. We become cold and lack confidence to approach Him. We become aware of our weakness and how unworthy we are. Many people despair and leave their souls to the imminent danger of eternal damnation. But Christ is offering us a brand new pair of boots! In the sacrament of penance, Christ himself releases us of the guilt of sin and offers us a new life.

The warmth of His love, the zeal and joy to run to him in Holy communion, the awareness of our divine sonship and how blessed we are to be sons of this forgiving father!

“Spiritual life is — and I repeat this again and again, on purpose — a constant beginning and beginning again.” St. Josemaria, Forge384
